I forget to use the internet sort of

Tue May 12, 2009, 7:41 PM
Not sure what to say other than I'm sure the pattern here is apparent by now. I'm naturally a sort of hermity lurker, I fall off the internet and tend to forget that being online can be a two-way street. I draw but the thought of sharing my art afterward completely slips my mind sometimes, it's become more and more like that as time goes on (and I um, seem to be getting more not less neurotic about art). That, and I'm not sure I'm comfortable posting out of some sense of obligation? I suppose I could apologize for that but it wouldn't be sincere. All I can do is be honest and put all my emotional baggage on display, another arty person with issues, very original *snort*

I won't be taking commissions anymore either, I can't really handle them anymore and I noticed myself becoming less and less competent with them D: Gotta know your limits. I draw because it makes me happy (which is something I have trouble finding in other areas), and attempts to do it for other purposes have been ummm unsuccessful? I create for that one reason, its a very inward-looking way to do things, but it keeps me going and that matters to me more than anything else. The other stuff is all peripheral.

I don't know many artists in a similar camp which makes me feel kind of like a weirdo, but what can you do? I don't want to constantly struggle to be someone I'm not cos down that road lies madness D:

Hmm this turned out sounding much more whiny than intended. Whoops!

How much do your commissions cost? I was thinking about commissioning you to do a fantasy ‘family portrait’ for the fanfic “the Open Door” by Academia Nut. The author has writer’s block, so I’m hoping the picture would help inspire him.

[see [link] (chapter 45) for details]

Description of the three characters posing for a family portrait.

(1) Lars: Tall, lanky Caucasian male, he wears a Commissar officer (complete with hat) that looks ragged and encrusted with barnacles here and there. Every time I drew him, he ended up looking too much like Davy Jones from “;Pirates of the Caribbean.”

(2) Skuld: From the “Ah! My Goddess” anime, she’s in her late teens, her clothing and facial tattoos are black. She’s surrounded by a faint aura of reddish light, sort of like what a solar eclipse looks like, and her long brunette hair has a living Medusa-ish quality to it.

(3) Gunnhild: daughter of Lars and Skuld, she outwardly looks like a prepubescent drow elf girl with white hair, wearing a simple silvery-white dress. She has silvery facial tattoos similar to her mother Skuld. Both Gunnhild and her father Lars have shark-like grins filled with pointed teeth

Do you think you can do a tutorial or at least tell me how you shade in Photoshop, because lately I've been not successful in anyway. So Please with sugar on top?
:iconquestionstar:
I don't really paint in photoshop though...
