I stopped drawing stuff from my fantasy story for a few years because... I hated it. I was disillusioned with fantasy in general and it pissed me off that my OWN story wasn't any different. So I shelved it until some new ideas came along that I could use to shake things up. Yeah... not like I am planning to take it anywhere, though, HEH. I just really enjoy the process (designing and worldbuilding and such). Anyway.
Ever since these characters first came to me I tried to pin down what they "really" looked like, but this is the first time it really feels right. Whooo. It took quite a few years didn't it? There are a lot of nitpicky things that I would change now that I had some time to stare at it for a while, but I know my elfs well enough that I don't feel the need to mess with it anymore. You have to stop nitpicking sooner or later so that you can go draw the 657 million other things that need to be drawn! Anyway I am happy to have some official reference-type drawings of them finally. I'm going to do some full-body and outfit breakdown pictures too, but they are actually pretty low on the list for now cos yeah... 657 million other things need to be drawn first... WHY AM I STILL TYPING I HAVE TO GO DRAW SOME MORE NOW.
Oh God wow it's been so long since you've uploaded anything. It looks great, you really broke it down to the fundamentals. I'm seriously incredibly impressed.
ahh, ru showed me some of these a bit ago, they're all really impressive. the way you do hair is always amazing, i think naroth's is my favorite, but it may also have to do with the incredible frecklage. .. and the incredible skin shading. yea. alla that.

It's cool to be able to see the layouts of your characters. And good grief, on the lower row-- their skin just glows. Their faces are all so full of color and life-- I especially like Lillia's beautiful, dark complexion-- and that says nothing of the detail that you always put into your paintings. The strands of hair, clearly defined, all the careful highlights and shadows, and so forth.
Also, as someone who has difficulty making facial features look different from character to character, it's helpful for me to be able to see how you do it.
aha, the red-haired one actually looks a bit like me.
oh, i have red hair. just so you know. only i have a little more flesh and such, but eh- they're ELVES. they're KNOWN for twigness.
and if you'll allow me to flatter your artistic smartness, i have something to say.
this is very accurate. the 'eastern' one- #1? it follows the facial structure perfectly. soft features and a generally smaller size is very accurate.
the same goes for the 'european' one- there's a general midground for size and firmness of the features. and the wrinkles (permanent or not) are common features and are very accurate. !
the 'african' one has big features- big eyes, nose, lips, HAIR- all common features... well, the hair depends on the person, but whatever. accurate.
and finally the.. i want to say 'scandinavian', so yeah. that one. sharper and longer features are the general theme, and you pulled that off well. the freckles look REAL, my god.

Ask not what you can do for art, but what art can do for you.
Just when I think you can humble me no more... XD
